Let us all Go green

When I think about saving Mother Earth and its natural resources, these are the thoughts that motivate me :
A farmer knows the importance of water and power more than anybody else. It’s their livelihood that is directly impacted.
While we do get impacted by the power cuts and water cuts, we have adjusted ourselves with alternatives. However, the importance of their availability and the need of the hour to save them is often deprioritized.
Off the busy schedule we all have, we can definitely donate some time towards saving power, water, paper etc.
Thus started the Eco watch campaign in my office.
  • We have been publishing weekly slides with tips on saving our natural resources such as power, water, paper, trees etc., and the 5day slides for World Environment Day 2014 were well appreciated.
  • The activity of switching off lights on Fridays 1pm to 2pm is now a routine in our bays.
  • Calculating number of systems shutdown over weekends is done by our eco watch team members.
  • The power savings are published monthly to the entire project and the increasing numbers are motivating.
This has been quite a journey and we have completed the ‘50 weeks’ milestone(now into week #56) and the journey will continue..!!
What my colleagues have to say:
Team Lead :
This is a good initiative from Trinadh and he managed this activities very well along with project deliverables. It’s good to see the savings we do every month.
Eco Watch co-volunteer:
When this idea of GO Green initiative was told me and I was asked to be a part of it, I never had imagined that this small initiative would come so long.
Saving energy: Many people want it, but few know exactly how. A common mistake is that people start to invest in solar panels, while often this isn’t the most effective way. Saving energy is much cheaper than generating it.
This is where, we thought we would start enlightening resources about the SAVE ENERGY slogan. We started off with asking them to act individually by switching of their systems on weekends and so on.
Good to see…we reached the 50th week of our GO GREEN.
